How did you get your start in art and design?
I was always an acknowledged natural artist amongst my teachers and peers as early as grade 8, my first ever piece of art were silk painted stoles/ dresses which i created and sold at the age of 13!
When did you decide to become a jewelry designer?
Jewelry design inspired me while I was living in south east Asia and was amazed by the natural precious and semi-precious stones and the skilled artisan making spectacular pieces.
What is the design ethos or philosophy of your company, Enchanted Jewels?
To be original, unique and to value my customers opinion the most!
We want to create designs that are just not to be worn on the ramp but can be effectively used in daily lives, should give the customer utmost satisfaction and value for money.
What is the inspiration for your most recent collection?
The current collection that I’m working on is based on the richness of colours that spring brings along with it, the jewels will have a wide variety of colored stones used in each piece, a blend of subtle (Rose quartz, Jade, Mother of Pearl) and bright (emeralds, Rubies, Turquoise) stones .
What is your most precious piece of jewellery that you own?
From my own personal use jewellery my favorite has to be my Diamond Baguette cut bracelet.
What is your favorite piece that you have made?
My favorite piece from my own creation has to be “Angels Singing” my Best Seller Mother of Pearl Flowers attached on Fresh Water Pearl string.
Which materials do you prefer working with?
I prefer to work with American Diamond when it comes to finesse and pearls for a totally natural feel.
Which artist or designer do you admire?
Van Cleef and Arpels recent nature inspired asymmetrical colorful trinkets.
Is color important to you?
Most of the time! It’s what creates life in each piece!
What is your process in creating these pieces, where and how do you work?
I have my teams working in Thailand, Malaysia, India as well as Pakistan. The designs and material used are indigenous to each region. Based on the stones availability and skills being perfected with each passing season we create unique designs and combinations appealing to our highly conscious and aware consumer market.
Who do you envision wearing your work? Do you think about this when you work on designs?
My Exotic Pearl Collection line is only worn by the very articulate and seasoned clientele. American diamonds Collection is very subtle and sophisticated again enjoyed by ones who know the real essence of carrying diamonds…Gold Plated Line is enjoyed by the Cultured, truly traditional at Heart customers who need to meet all the wedding/engagement accessories List!
What new directions do you hope to move in the future? Do you have big plans, new ideas or designs you will be exploring soon? Innovation is the heart of each business, my job as a designer is to create designs never imagined before and to startle my customers each season with competitive colours/materials and technique and never to forget the affordability factor!
Your look and aesthetic in three words.
Playful, Creative yet classy.
